Chinese netizens to brainstorm on sustainable growth, two winners invited to Summer Davos Forum with all expenses paid

BEIJING, July 15 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Starting immediately, Youku, China's leading online video site, will formally launch China's first "Summer Davos Debates," partnering with the World Economic Forum. The event will select videos on the subject of "sustainable growth" that express the viewpoints of the general public. Two winners will be invited to the Summer Davos Forum with all expenses paid.

The "Summer Davos Debates" activity is the first-ever World Economic Forum event to collect videos from Chinese internet users. It is designed to foster direct dialogue and discussion with the wider public on key issues affecting the planet. This year's theme will be sustainable growth.

Starting immediately and concluding on August 26, Youku users will use videos to express their opinions on sustainable development, or to tell their own stories about the topic. Any video uploaded to Youku and tagged with the phrase "Davos debates" will automatically be entered into the competition. Ten finalists will be selected between August 26th and 30th, and then the final two winners will be selected in early September after soliciting and considering the comments of Youku users.

The makers of the best two videos will be specially invited on an all-expenses-paid trip to Tianjin to personally participate in the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions ("Summer Davos") from September 13-15.

The meeting location for the "Summer Davos Debates" will be specially built and arranged so that when the time comes the final winners of the contest can be the hosts of a special area of the forum. The winners will be able to invite forum guests to give interviews there, but they can also leave to attend seminars, and meet with distinguished politicians, economists, business executives, and scholars.
