Company is the only one in the industry with end-to-end control of its production process
SAO PAULO, Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Focusing on sustainability across its entire value chain, JBS Couros has developed a system that collects data throughout the leather production process, from sourcing at the farm all the way through to the end product. The platform, called JBS360°, will be presented to customers and attendees at the All China Leather Exhibition, which is being held between August 29 and 31 in Shanghai.
During the event, visitors will be able to see the entire history behind the leathers on display. By verifying the traceability stamps visible on each of the items, visitors will be able to check all of the information about that particular product, such as the group of farms where the leather was sourced, the slaughter date and technical data, such as the tanning conservation period and the chemical processes used to transform the material. This data will be available on a totem at the JBS Couros exhibition stand, which will also be showing images and infographics about the company's production processes as well as animal welfare information.
The platform's presentation will initially be restricted to the ACLE to provide customers and visitors with a unique experience in supply chain controls, as well as reinforcing the guarantee that the Company and its suppliers only work with raw materials produced in accordance with the highest possible standards. In other words, this process ensures that the leather comes from areas not affected by deforestation, rural violence, agricultural conflict or invasion of indigenous land and where labor analogous to slavery is not used, offering the international market transparent and relevant information. JBS Couros has a capacity to produce 35 thousand leathers a day in Brazil.
"We are the only leather company with complete control over the production chain and capable of monitoring all processes, from farms to the delivery of the final product being supplied to our customers. This guarantees complete transparency when communicating with our stakeholders and ensures our products comply with the most stringent social and environmental criteria on the market", said Fernando Bellese, JBS Couros Marketing and Sustainability manager.
Over the past two years, JBS Couros has invested over USD600,000.00 in traceability for its Leather and Meats businesses.
