China Unicom holds 2017 China Unicom International Partners Meeting

HONG KONG, June 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- China Unicom held the 2017 Partner Conference in Shanghai. More than 400 guests from the world's leading telecoms operators and emerging information service providers attended the conference, with the theme as "Creating the Smart Future". During the conference, China Unicom unveiled the "Global IoT Connectivity Cooperation Initiative", which is designed to jointly expand the global IoT business market and create more values.

Yimin Lu, General Manager of China Unicom, addressed a keynote speech. He said that China Unicom has developed many innovative practices, achieving great results in the six key aspects which include IoT, Cloud & IDC, Big Data, Industrial Internet, Payment Business and Video Business. China Unicom has converged its advantages and resources in IoT, establishing a professional, flat and integrated intensive operation management; In 5G field, China Unicom actively tracks and researches 5G technology, and will start field trials in major cities in 2017; for International Business, China Unicom has finished the layout of Global Market, Network and Service Capability, speeding the network construction along The "Belt and Road" Region in particular. Finally, Yimin Lu proposed four Cooperation Initiatives on behalf of China Unicom, "To Jointly Build "The Belt & Road" Information Optical Highway", "To Deepen the Cooperation of International ICT Union". "To Build a 5G Ecosystem by promoting U5G+ Platform Cooperation", and to "To Promote the global deployment of IoT". China Unicom actively promotes the cooperation between industries through the innovative cooperation model, achieving a win-win cooperation with global partners.

Zhengxin Jiang, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom unveiled the "Global IoT Connectivity Cooperation Initiative". He pointed out that innovation is what drives development, promoting the cooperation and construction of key IoT infrastructure, and is critical to connect the digital Silk road. The rapid development of IoT has driven the demand of manufacturing and other enterprises for global deployment, and enterprises want to have quick global access for their terminal equipment and unified deployment management. China Unicom proposes to its global partners to speed up their actions and establish an "Open, inclusive and trustworthy" long term communication & cooperation relationship, on the basis of "Fair, equal and consulation". This is to build IoT global connectivity, the intercommunication of a connectivity platform, eSIM platform establishment and efficient cooperation in particular, to speed up the deployment of Global IoT and create a new value for an age where "Everything is connected".

Deutsche Telekom believes that the cooperation between mainstream operators and industrial chains is the key to the development of IoT.

During the conference, China Unicom signed an agreement with Cisco, Huawei, Gemalto, Giesecke&Devrient, Lenovo and other global IoT leading enterprises to cooperate in IoT global platform, IoT common chip, IoT module and eSIM, in order to create an IoT global ecosystem and satisfy the needs for global IoT connectivity.

At the conference, President Shusen Meng of China Unicom Global Limited introduced the development of China Unicom's international business in detail, and proposed a specific model of cooperation as to the close cooperation with global operators to create a "Belt and Road" information optical highway and a global "Cloud Interconnection" system, and to promote global IoT connectivity collaboration. The representative from China-ASEAN information harbor Co., LTD introduced the development of CAIH.

It is known that China Unicom's Partner Conference, having been held for 12 consecutive years since 2006, has become an important communication platform for global operator cooperations, in which China Unicom has established and maintained a good relationship of cooperation with more than 100 global operators and multinational companies. During the conference, China Unicom also held 60-odd bilateral meetings with their partners from different sectors, which has enhanced the link and cooperation of the international information industry.
