SGS Obtained the Accreditation of ABS for BWMS Commissioning Testing

SHANGHAI, July 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, SGS obtained the accreditation of BWMS Commissioning Testing from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). This accreditation is a recognition of impartiality of SGS report and conformity of the capacity of SGS laboratory to international standards. It also marks SGS ballast water testing technology at the forefront of the industry.


 


The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), founded in 1862 as a non-governmental organization, is one of the most recognized Shipping societies in the world. ABS is a professional organization engaged in the classification of ships and is known for its rigorous auditing.

In the process of qualification certification, ABS conducted audit to SGS laboratory and practice demonstration, and highly recognized the overall quality of work by SGS, including capability on field operation and lab testing as well as strict quality control process, which enabled SGS BW testing team to be certified to provide ABS standard inspection report.

As the third-party testing institution with the most complete testing capacity for ballast water in China, SGS offers Marine environmental services on testing of ballast water and scrubber water to ship owners, manufactures and relevant institutions based on IMO and VGP requirements, and issues accurate testing reports. SGS report is recognized by classification societies worldwide such as ABS, DNV-GL, NK, BV, LR, KR, etc.
