China Information Technology Inc. Plays Critical Role in 'Map World,' China's State-sponsored Web-based Map Service

SHENZHEN, China, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- China Information Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNIT), a leading total solutions provider of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital public security and hospital information systems in China, today announced its critical role in the design and construction of China's newly released "Map World," the state-sponsored online map service that functions similarly to "Google Earth."

Launched as a beta version on October 21, 2010, by the Chinese State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (the "Bureau"), and accessible via www.tianditu.cn and www.chinaonmap.cn, "Map World" is a national geographic information search platform for the general public with worldwide coverage.  According to Bureau Chief, Xu Mingde, "Map World" represents the development of China's own public geographic information service, and will soon become an important Chinese brand among web-based geographic information platforms. The developers expect the website to be gradually improved with the help of user feedback, and feature greater global coverage, richer content and faster, more reliable service in the near future.

China Information Technology was engaged by the Bureau to be the sole provider of the GIS platform software for Map World, GeoGlobe, and as the sole supplier of all its software programs. The Company expects to continue playing a substantial role in the website's ongoing operation and provision of value-added services to commercial users.

Mr. Jiang Huai Lin, Chairman and CEO of the Company, commented, "We are proud to be a key contributor to the "Map World" project.  We believe our involvement is a testament to our strong technological capabilities, as well as to the superiority of our Geo brand in China's GIS industry. Our involvement in the project also marks our market expansion from the public sector to the private sector as GIS technologies become more broadly adopted by the private sector in China."
