Half of global survey respondents revealed not being able to provide employees with the right training and knowledge for their roles

SYDNEY and MELBOURNE, Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- An independent survey of 769 HR leaders from across the globe revealed that over 1/3 of HR leaders believe they cannot sufficiently prepare their workforce for tomorrow's skills demand, leaving one-in-three employees feeling insecure in their job as a result.

The survey, commissioned by Lumesse, a global leader in integrated talent management solutions, found that 80% of respondents agreed that employees have to learn more and faster to succeed than they did five years ago, yet half of HR leaders confirmed that they are some way from providing employees with the right training and knowledge for their role.

“In contrast to this, the Australian Federal Government's initiatives to improve access to high speed broadband technologies across the nation have the potential of giving Australia an advantageous position in e-learning and to emerge from barriers of talent enablement. A key concern of learning management in Australia, however, is the possible degree of agility that companies can put into practice with tools available in market,” commented Erik Schmit, APAC Group Managing Director of Lumesse.

With an estimated annual turnover of the Australian online education industry to be $2.8 billion (IBIS World, 2009), the Corporate Training Solutions Sector offers a wide-range of learning products. Given that learning must be integrated into the talent life cycle to reflect impact on personal growth and ROI, and that front-line staff are in the best position for knowledge sharing than formal training units, it is often questionable which tools can cater to both demands in the same time.

“While most organizations that we talk with are attempting to increase agility in their learning process, they are often missing insights on how learning processes are impacting performance and personal growth within a well-defined framework of talent lifecycle,” said Andre Linossie, COO of NegXT, the sole distributor of Lumesse learning solutions in Australia and New Zealand. “It is even harder for companies to capture best-practice knowledge from front-line staff as they are often left out of the picture in learning content creation and many times they are better trainers than formal training departments.”

Thomas Berglund, Director of Learning at Lumesse commented, "With 75% of HR leaders agreeing that organisational change is happening globally much faster than just five years ago, HR professionals are being asked to achieve more with less, and to do it right now. To overcome this challenge, HR leaders need to adopt more agile learning strategies that respond quickly to change and that are easy to deploy across intuitive technology platforms that employees trust."
