In this role Peter will be based in Sydney, Australia and will lead a team of 18 people.

Previously Peter was the Head of Sales Europe for Beyond the Bed, based in Palma de Mallorca office – supporting wholesale & retail travel agent customers across Europe to take advantage of Hotelbeds' extensive range of activities, tours, tickets and transfers. Before this Peter worked for Bedsonline in a leadership role for 7 years as Regional Manager, since the brand's launch in 2008 in the UK & Irish markets.

Additionally, the roles reporting to Peter have been confirmed, with Shari Rokosuka taking the role of Area Sales Manager to support Peter in managing the Key Account Managers and Sales Executives across the region. Prior to this appointment Shari had been part of the TravelCube team for 12 years.

This news follows the recent announcement that Bedsonline celebrated its 15th anniversary in Spain, the company's founding source market, with a private event attended by over 300 travel agents. Additionally, Bedsonline sales teams in Pacific will be kicking off a campaign to introduce customers – both existing Bedsonline customers and those moving over from TravelCube – to this newly revised offering, including sales meetings, presentations, webinars and various events held in local markets, details of which will be published soon.

James Phillips, Regional Sales Director, AMPAC at Bedsonline, comments"As part of the recent rebranding and launch of our new value proposition, we're dedicated to continually improving the customer experience, beyond simply our highly sophisticated booking platform with its advanced functionalities. Essential to this is having in place strong teams with unbeatable local knowledge and commitment to the best service possible for our purely travel agent only customer base. I´m certain that in Peter and his team we have the best line-up available in the market."

Peter Jones, Regional Sales Manager, Pacific at Bedsonline, comments"I am very pleased to be taking on this new role and having such a strong team in place during this decisive stage in the development of the Bedsonline brand. Throughout the Australia and New Zealand markets, already we started reaching out to our travel partners – who are made up solely of travel agents – to explain how they will benefit from the new and enhanced Bedsonline offering. This includes enhancements we have made by meticulously selecting the best-of-class functionalities from the TravelCube platform, as well as the growth of our product portfolio to reach over 170,000 hotels and the strengthened position to negotiate the best deals for our travel partners."

Recently it was announced that the parent company of both GTA and Bedsonline, Hotelbeds, will consolidate its retail product portfolio and offerings globally under the newly refreshed Bedsonline brand and platform – establishing the world's leading provider of accommodation and complementary services designed exclusively for use by travel agents only.

The strategic milestone followed extensive consultation with customers since Tourico Holidays and GTA – along with its retail brands TravelBound and TravelCube – joined Hotelbeds in 2017.

Following the consolidation of GTA's brand portfolio and offerings into Bedsonline, the platform now offers, to travel agents only, globally the following benefits:

  1. Diverse and competitive product portfolio: 170,000 hotels available globally (with over 90,000 directly sourced, creating a highly competitive portfolio with unique offers), 24,000 transfer routes, 18,000 activities, and 140,000 cars available for hire – all sourced by an expert team of over 1,000 contractors around the world.
  2. Powerful and user-friendly technology: Best-in-class search engine designed specifically for the needs of travel agents allows users to filter and compare results in a flexible and practical way – 70% of existing customers cite the platform as a top factor in choosing the service. Bedsonline's parent company is the only travel trade wholesaler to operate its own cloud-based, open source data centre handling 1.5 billion searches per day.
  3. Local knowledge combined with a global offering: Our experienced local sales teams in every market provide significant knowledge and industry know-how adapted to the specific needs of each market.

A migration plan is already underway to speak with the travel agent customers of TravelCube about the benefits of moving onto Bedsonline's booking platform – where the combination of the GTA retail brand's content will increase from 55,000 to 170,000 the number of hotels available to customers. Clients will have sufficient time to transition at their own pace and both workshops and technical support will be on hand to support a seamless migration.
