Representing the coming together of two worlds – Scotland and Spain – The Macallan Litha is a one-of-a-kind single malt whisky that is matured in 100% first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez De La Frontera, Spain. This gives the whisky an intense, complex and smooth flavor profile that is characterized by gentle scents of vanilla, butterscotch, citrus and tropical fruits, beautifully balanced with warming wood spice, chocolate, salted caramel and pecans, with a lingering hint of sweet oak. And guests will have the opportunity to enjoy this incomparable whisky in a variety of ways at Galaxy Macau restaurants this autumn.
Michelin-starred Lai Heen at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau is hosting an exclusive whisky pairing dinner with The Macallan Litha on September 28, with a brand ambassador to introduce and explain each selection. Priced at MOP 2,288 per person, the eight-course The Macallan Litha Whisky Pairing Ambassador Dinner features dishes including Crispy French Quail Thigh Accompanied with Rock Salt Codfish Fillet in Salted Egg Yolk Sauce and Chilled Chinese Yam Purée with French Crystal Citrus; Double-boiled Fish Maw Soup with Sea Crustacean and Coconut; Sautéed Tiger Prawn with Termite Mushroom and Fresh Asparagus; and Baked Sago Pudding with Date Purée and Crispy Sesame Ball Stuffed with Lava Egg Custard. Guests will enjoy these delicacies alongside fine whiskies such as The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old, as well as The Macallan Litha. Lai Heen is also offering The Macallan Litha Starred Pairing of 8-course Tasting Set Dinner from September 29 – October 27, for MOP 2,576, including a complete whisky fight experience.
Elsewhere, The Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge at Galaxy Macau will be hosting "The Macallan Litha‧Cocktail Party" on October 12 and 13 to celebrate the new creation, The Macallan Litha. Pairing with the signature canapés and live music, it's a perfect time to enjoy a special night at Rococo Garden in Autumn time. Both Pang's Kitchen at Galaxy Macau and two-Michelin-starred for seven consecutive years Feng Wei Ju at StarWorld Hotel will be pairing The Macallan Litha with a variety of signature dishes to create an array of unique flavor combinations from September 18 to October 15.
Pang's Kitchen will showcase a special dish of Deep-fried Butterfly Kuruma Shrimp with Sweet and Sour Sauce from September 18 to October 31, priced at MOP 398 paired with The Macallan Litha from September 18 onwards. Feng Wei Ju, meanwhile, will pair the whisky with Steamed Spotted Grouper and Egg White with Preserved Mustard Greens (MOP 248, includes 30ml The Macallan Litha), a unique creation that blends Sichuan and Cantonese cooking methods. Also, it can pair with Braised South African Abalone with Oyster Sauce (MOP 458, includes 30ml The Macallan Litha), a South African abalone is simmered in a flavorful clear stock cooked with pork bone, chicken, ham and more ingredients. When paired with Litha, the aromas of warming wood spice, chocolate, salted caramel and pecans marry marvelously with the premium delicacy.
Budding whisky connoisseurs can also take a deeper dive into appreciating the spirit at The Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge's monthly Whisky Masterclass on September 21. Priced at MOP 388 per person, this event offers a rare opportunity to learn about whisky from an industry expert through a series of tastings in a small group setting. September's edition focuses on Glen Grant Single Malt Whisky, one of the top five best-selling Scottish single malt distilleries worldwide, with the brand ambassador leading an in-depth guided tasting of several different expressions of the whisky alongside complementary canapés.
Also happening at Galaxy Macau this autumn is another event true foodies won't want to miss: the Putien Food Festival. Held at Putien from now to October 31, this culinary celebration is based on Singapore One Michelin Star restaurant's philosophy of "Fresh Ingredients, Original Taste", and spotlights one prime seasonal ingredient so that guests can enjoy it at its freshest, and in different ways. And for autumn, the star of the season is fresh eel from Shunde, the most renowned location for eels in China.
For a delectable combination of meat and fat, Putien uses only eels weighing between 600g and 800g and measuring approximately 70cm in length, which are transported live to the restaurant. These eels are fed on codfish powder, providing a satisfying bite with thicker flesh, and offering a delightful bouncy texture.
