In recent months, growing number of restaurants are serving Hanwoo in Hong Kong. With the upcoming Christmas season, the Hanwooboard announced three fine dining restaurants of Hanwoo in Hong Kong for citizens who look foods for special occasions.

The Charcoal Room is the first fine dining restaurant opened earlier this year that serves Hanwoo roasted on oak tree charcoal fire. Its main menu includes most of Koreans' favorite foods, such as roasted sirloin of Hanwoo, galbi jjim(braised short ribs), bulgogi(barbequed beef), doenjang jjigae(soybean paste stew), haemul dubu jjigae (seafood and bean curd stew), and haemul pajeon(seafood and green onion pancake). If diners want to take Korean style roasted sirloin of Hanwoo and other Korean foods as though they enjoy them in Korea, diners can visit this restaurant. It is located at Mong Kok T.O.P., and prices range between HKD201 and HKD400.

Located in the central SOHO street, MugungHanwoo Beef Specialist is the only Hanwoo specialized restaurant in Hong Kong. At the wide two-floor restaurant, diners can choose roasted Hanwoo of diverse parts, and provides a wide range of choice as they can taste various foods when they choose a set menu. Diners can also taste yukhoe (fresh and tender lean beef julienned and marinated with seasonings) and Korean style naengmyeon (cold noodles). Prices range between HKD201 and HKD400.

Jjigae is the most recently opened and first restaurant in Hong Kong that serves unlimited refill of Hanwoo hot pot. During a given time of the diners' choice between 60 minutes and 90 minutes, they can enjoy unlimited Hanwoo hot pot, and they can enjoy it at even cheaper prices between 17:00 and 19:00 p.m. Customers can also taste delicious Korean foods, including seolleongtang (ox bone soup), seonggae miyeokguk (sea urchin and sea mustard soup), bibimbap (rice mixed with vegetables and beef), and mul naengmyeon (cold noodles). Prices range between HKD150 and HKD250, and the restaurant is located in Yuenlong District.

In its report in August, USA Today evaluated, "Known to be the world's best beef, Wakyu is overvalued. In reality, Hanwoo is the best one in the world." According to the article, rib eye of Wakyu consists 70% of fat and 30% of protein, while that of Hanwoo consists 40~50% of fat. Compared to Wakyu, Hanwoo contains less fat and it is softer than beef produced in the United States and Australia, with unique chewing taste.
