SINGAPORE, Nov. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 4, the China (Chongqing)-Singapore Connectivity Initiative Financial Summit 2019 was held at Chongqing Yuelai International Convention Center. The summit was co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the People's Bank of China, the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange and the Chongqing municipal government, as well as the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

At the opening ceremony, Chongqing mayor and deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Tang Liangzhi delivered an impassioned speech. Distinguished guests, among them, Singapore Minister of Education and Monetary Authority of Singapore board member Ong Ye Kung, Monetary Authority of Singapore managing director Ravi Menon, People's Bank of China vice president and State Administration of Foreign Exchange director Pan Gongsheng, delivered keynote speeches. In addition, more than 1200 guests, including heads of financial regulatory authorities from eight ASEAN countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia, leaders of several other provinces and autonomous regions, heads of well-known Asia Pacific-based financial institutions and multinational firms, established experts in the world of finance, government officials from district-, county- and city-level financial authorities as well as heads of financial institutions and industry organizations in Chongqing, and journalists from leading media organizations, attended the opening ceremony and witnessed this important event.

In order to meet the key goals of the summit - engage in the implementation of innovative key demonstration projects proposed to the Initiative by the Chinese central government as well as promote international cooperation for the Belt and Road Initiative and for the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the 2019 summit invited nearly 300 government officials, business executives and experts from China, Singapore and other countries to attend and engage in discussions various topics, including cross-border investment and financing, financial technology, inclusive finance, green finance, supply chain finance, logistics finance, assets securitization, in a move to promote win-win cooperation. The overall mission of the summit is to assure the proper financing for the Belt and Road Initiative and the build-out of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor through innovation.
