2010 North American Fiber to the Home Trade Show to be in Las Vegas, September 12-16

WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- North America's largest fiber to the home trade show, the 2010 FTTH Conference & Expo (http://www.ftthconference.com ), will take place September 12-16, 2010 at the Venetian Hotel-Resort-Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The event will attract nearly 2,000 broadband and telecommunications executives from around the world - telecom equipment manufacturers, optical component vendors, broadband service providers, and network engineering companies - to see the latest FTTH technologies and discuss strategies for deploying all-fiber networks.

The trade show floor will include more than 130 exhibitors demonstrating the latest in FTTH equipment while the conference agenda has more than 50 educational sessions on FTTH technologies, deployment strategies and business practices.

The keynote speaker will be Mike Quigley, Chief Executive Officer of NBN Co Limited, a company created in 2009 by the Australian government to build and operate a fiber to the premises network that will bring 100 megabit broadband service to 90 per cent of homes, schools and workplaces in the country.

FTTH networks are available to more than 16 percent of North American households, with nearly six million homes now connected. A recent survey by the FTTH Council found that more than three-quarters of telephone companies across the continent say they are likely to upgrade to FTTH in the next few years.

The Las Vegas conference will also include special sessions and networking opportunities for companies from Latin America, as well as a meeting of the FTTH Council's Latin American chapter.

"The 2010 FTTH Conference and Expo in Las Vegas will be an important event for any company that wants to be a part of FTTH growth in this hemisphere," said Joe Savage, President of the FTTH Council North America.

Now in its ninth year, the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council is a non-profit association consisting of companies and organizations that deliver video, Internet and/or voice services over next-generation, direct fiber optic connections -- as well as those involved in planning and building FTTH networks. Its mission is to educate the public and government officials about FTTH solutions, and to promote and accelerate deployment of fiber to the home and the quality of life enhancements such networks make possible.
