Aleris Names Jeffrey A. Byrd Vice President, Aleris Operating System

BEACHWOOD, Ohio, July 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Aleris named Jeffrey A. Byrd vice president, Aleris Operating System (AOS), effective July 1, 2011.  Byrd will lead this global operating system of integrated principles, operating practices and tools to drive transformational and continuous improvements.  He will report to Aleris chairman and chief executive officer Steven J. Demetriou.

Byrd previously was vice president Operations & Supply Chain for the company's Rolled Products North America business.  Before that he served as vice president Supply Chain for that segment.  Byrd joined Aleris in 2004.  Earlier, he was director Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations for Alflex Corporation and director, Materials Planning for Commonwealth Aluminum Company, and held operations, sales and technical roles at Barmet Aluminum Corporation.

Byrd holds an M.B.A. from Ashland University and a B.A. in Finance and Management from Walsh University.
