BEIJING, Nov.15, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China (AmCham-China) welcomes China's recent announcement to further strengthen its protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) following a meeting of the State Council Standing Committee chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.
China's IPR enforcement is a top priority for AmCham-China members, and stronger protections will be a positive step for the entire business community, including local Chinese companies. "The government's recent announcement comes as welcome news and includes necessary and important steps to further strengthen China's protection of IPR and towards sustainable intellectual property and innovation strategies," said AmCham-China Chairman Ted Dean.
"AmCham-China recognizes and applauds the leadership of the Ministry of Commerce in the IPR enforcement campaign launched late last year, and as the ministry named by the State Council to host an IPR Leading Group to coordinate Chinese enforcement efforts," said Dean.
The recent announcement outlines expanded IPR protection initiatives, particularly for food items, medicine, cosmetics, agricultural products, building materials, electronics and car parts.
