Ecobuild and Greenbuild Events Team Together

2012-07-06 19:00 1989

HONG KONG, July 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- UBM announces today that its Ecobuild events will team up with the Greenbuild event organised by AMB Exhibitions Sdn Bhd based in Malaysia. Both parties will support and co-operate with each other on the sales and marketing of these events.

Held at London's ExCeL, Ecobuild is the world's leading event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment. The 2012 event in March brought together more than 57,000 industry professionals who explored the products, services and innovations from over 1,500 exhibitors. This established brand has also been geo-adapted to Asia, in India and China.

Greenbuild Asia is Southeast Asia's biggest event for sustainable building, design and construction. Held in conjunction with the International Construction Week 2012 hosted by the Construction Industry Development Board. The last event in Kuala Lumpur welcomed over 11,000 trade buyers and 450 exhibiting companies from 32 countries. In 2013, the exhibition will move to a larger exhibition venue at the Putra World Trade Centre to accommodate the increasing demand for space.

This is the second co-operation between UBM and AMB. Last May, UBM acquired AMB's businesses related to water, livestock, energy, and mechanical/electrical industries in Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Of these, the two largest shows are AsiaWater and ASEAN M&E Expo.  AMB's founder Andrew Siow Kwang Vian remained with the business as a consultant following the acquisition, together with his employees.

Andrew Siow Kwang Vian said:

"We have had a very rewarding year with UBM. Their strong international network and professionalism add new impetus to the events. I look forward to another successful co-operation with UBM on Greenbuild Asia."

Jime Essink, President & Chief Executive Officer of UBM Asia said:

"Southeast Asia is a big potential market for sustainable construction and building. We are very pleased that our Ecobuild events can co-operate with AMB's Greenbuild event to tap this market because we have experienced the tremendous contribution from Andrew and his team to UBM's accelerated growth in the exhibition industry in Southeast Asia, which made UBM Malaysia already the biggest exhibition organiser in Malaysia."
