SHANGHAI, China, Sept. 24 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Recently, chip giant AMD opened its “virtual flagship” shop on iPart, the famous “online virtual” community website based in China. Just after AMD's shop officially opened, over 100,000 netizens visited it and the “shop door” was immediately jammed packed with intrigued visitors.

The iPart branch of AMD has an online workshop for netizens to experience the pleasure of assembling computers by themselves and its main purpose is to teach users the process of component R&D. The shop owner prepared a limited number of value-added “fortune bags” for netizens who came into the assembling workshop to assemble computers in return for users' support and loyalty to AMD, and the most attractive among them are five AMD Turion 64 HP extreme-speed notebook computers at a market value of RMB5,499 each.

Just a few days after the activity began, netizens lined up to receive fortune bags every day and Bing Fengwanzuo, the netizen who ranks first at present, said, “I stand in the queue from 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning in order to get the notebook computer from AMD. The constantly updated data about rankings show the participation degree of netizens is not only exceeding the organizer's expectations, but also reflects that such a commercial promotional idea is acceptable to most users and has a beneficial result.

For a time, the most popular activity at the website was lining up to receive AMD fortune bags. Previously big department stores prepared big gift bags to present to consumers for thanksgiving while they made purchases only at the year-end, but the fortune bags don't need to be held for several months. Only luck and enough patience will make it possible for users to get the big prize for nothing.

DHC and AMD, along with other international brands, are now available online at iPart, and IKEA is also negotiating establishment of a shopping mall in iPart that will cater for 7.5 million users. After IBM opened a branch in Second Life, various big domestic brands showed the same enthusiasm for marketing activities designed by virtual communities as their foreign counterparts. It is expected that in the near future, an online shopping street will also be established in virtual space to allow you to experience and convenience brought about by making just one click at home to order everything you want.
