2007-04-20 21:40 2852

DETROIT, April 20 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- WoodWing USA and Alfresco Software Inc. today announced a joint program to deliver WoodWing's Smart Connection Enterprise editorial workflow system and Alfresco's 2.0 open source enterprise content management system (ECM) as an integrated solution for the publishing industry.

Industry officials said the partnership will benefit customers across the publishing spectrum.

"The Alfresco-WoodWing partnership brings together some of the best innovation in publishing, web content management and content delivery systems built on top of an open source and standards compliant, enterprise class technology," said Terry Barbounis, CTO, Christian Science Monitor.

The new solution, which comes on the heels of WoodWing's latest update to its industry-leading editorial system, Smart Connection Enterprise v. 4.2, combines WoodWing's three-tier open architecture editorial workflow system with version 2.0 of Alfresco's open source ECM software. The solution gives newspapers, magazines, book publishers, corporate and agency clients a scalable publishing system that is easy to implement, maintain and integrate with front and back-end systems.

"On a competitive basis, this combination offers an alternative to traditional, expensive, rigid systems," said Brian Kruger, CEO of WoodWing USA. "We are now able to offer the best in editorial workflow and ECM at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems."

WoodWing's Smart Connection Enterprise system helps publishers shorten production cycles and make the publishing process more efficient.

"We are very excited about the integration with WoodWing and the opportunity to combine with their publishing solutions," said John Powell, CEO, Alfresco. "This partnership is a result of the clear demand in the global publishing industry for faster, lower-priced solutions and leverages the adoption Alfresco is seeing with leading publishing organizations and publishing software companies."
