The new express centre, which covers 6,000 square metres (bonded and non-
bonded), is designed to address rising demand for inventory management and
distribution services across the Southern China region.
With operating licenses already in place, the facility will specialize in
offering customized warehousing and freight forwarding services for the
textile, apparel, clothing, fashion accessories and luxury goods industries.
This includes the distribution of both imported goods, and fashion items
made on the Mainland, to over 60 domestic retail outlets daily.
According to Birkart Globistics air + ocean's Far East CEO, Mr. James
David Kilpatrick, the new freight forwarding centre is an important addition
to the company's regional and global network, and will facilitate trade
within the fashion industry in China, whilst strengthening the Mainland's
trade and transportation links with markets around the globe.
"Delivering goods to consumers quickly and efficiently is a key concern
for all manufacturers especially in the fashion and textile industry," Mr.
Kilpatrick comments.
"By providing consolidated customs brokerage, storage, quality checking,
order and inventory management as well as seamless distribution services
under one roof, our new centre promises to accelerate transit times, thereby
speeding up the movement of our customer's goods."
Mr. Kilpatrick also expresses that foreign fashion houses, in particular,
can benefit tremendously from working with a trusted logistics specialist
such as Birkart Globistics air + ocean who has the necessary systems and
connections, and extensive experience of operating in China.
"Our distribution facility, for example, will offer a number of value
added services for the fashion and accessories sectors including textile
finishing, Chinese labeling, and the sorting and packing of goods," he states.
"By providing an integrated end-to-end solution, we will therefore
significantly simplify the shipment process for our customers. This will
generate instrumental gains in efficiency, plus savings in terms of time and
cost."
To support shipment visibility, the new logistics centre will be equipped
with a modern information system, which designed and developed by the
company, supports tracking and tracing capabilities enabling customers to
keep abreast of shipment movements.
Says Mr. Kilpatrick, "Needless to say, we have adapted the logistics
system to meet very specific conditions in China. This includes measures to
ensure accuracy in the sorting, distribution, and tracking of shipments."
In addition, Mr. Kilpatrick stresses that the company's supply chain
services at Jingqiao and across its other subsidiaries in China each operate
to equivalent standards as its centres in Europe.
"The Southern China region is an incredibly important market for us and
we expect to increase our array of services and on-site locations in this
region," he comments, whilst noting that the opening of the Jingqiao
warehouse follows hot on the heels of the recent launch of Birkart Globistics
air + ocean's 18th Chinese branch in Wuxi.
"To do so, our intentions are to expand our own network of freight
forwarding centres and, in fact, we are presently planning the opening of an
additional facility in Beijing later this month," Mr. Kilpatrick confirmed.
"Subsequently, our goal is thus to help both our local and international
customers cost-effectively deliver their goods to the right place and in the
right condition, on-time, every time!"
