SunSensors+ is made from an ultra-light weight material that combines the reliability and affordability of the current mid-index SunSensors with improved tensile strength and 100% UVA and UVB protection. SunSensors+ is optimized for rimless styles and is attractive with true grey and warm brown colors that have exceptional color stability over the life of the prescription. “The new product offers the strong performance of photochromic technology that you can trust from Corning,” said Pradeepak Malvai, director, Sales & Marketing, Ophthalmic South Asia, Greater China & Korea. Malvai announced SunSensors+ during the China International Optics Fair 2007 in Shanghai.

Corning will continue to offer the current SunSensors plastic photochromic lens material for patients that are new to photochromic lenses and primarily looking for a quality lens at a moderate price. “We see a huge potential out of this market as Chinese customers are moving fast from what I need to what I want,” Malvai continued. “The new SunSensors+ plastic photochromic lens material will be targeted at those desiring a fashionable rimless frame design and also interested in eye protection from the sun.”
