  • STULZ offers exceptional solutions for the European precision air conditioning systems market

LONDON, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the precision air conditioning systems (PACS) market, Frost & Sullivan recognises STULZ with the 2012 Europe Product Leadership Award. As a result of its high quality, engineered energy efficient and mission critical solutions that effectively meet the cooling requirements of data centres, STULZ has established itself as one of the leading brands in the European PACS market. STULZ also received the Frost & Sullivan 2008 North American Growth Strategy Leadership of the Year Award in recognition of its concerted efforts to enter a mature market with strong barriers to entry, and post healthy growth within a record five year time period.

STULZ successfully adapts existing products to meet client needs; and, it engineers products around the needs of its clients, on both control and mechanical aspects.  It specialises in combining various aspects of a data centre cooling system, such as direct free cooling, indirect free cooling while always keeping a focus on energy-efficiency. Additionally, STULZ adjusts components to match the heat load to generate an ambient temperature for emergency needs, into one sophisticated control system.

"STULZ's products exemplify quality, innovation and reliability," noted Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst, Gautham Gnanajothi. "The company's expertise in the field of PACS has made it one of the leading cooling systems providers worldwide.  Its energy-efficient solutions are engineered to work on a system-level rather than at a product-level, thus ensuring that customer value is consistently enhanced."

STULZ has pioneered the adoption of EC fan technology, which has revolutionised the energy- efficiency of air distribution in PACS. The company's Cyber Air 3 launched earlier this year and is a result of almost a year and a half of intense R&D.

Cyber Air 3 employs an EC fan with a fibreglass reinforced composite wheel, which reduces the fan's power consumption and conveys the air more efficiently. Optimum efficiency in cooling capacity is achieved by employing stepless compressor controls and brushless- and maintenance-free motors. It ensures that the heat exchanger surface is used to the fullest by employing high efficiency rear panels which, again, lower fan power consumption.

"The key differentiating factor in Cyber Air 3 is that STULZ has designed the cooling unit around the fan, as opposed to some of its competitors who have attempted to 'spec in' the fan technology without changing the basic design of the unit," explained Gnanajothi. "This unique design results in extremely low power consumption, while highlighting the benefits of the most energy-efficient and reliable system available in the market."

Cyber Air 3 offers increased energy-efficiency as compared to its precursor, Cyber Air 2, and, hence, higher cost savings to customers. It cools the air in data centres and equipment rooms with available cooling capacities of 19 KW up to 245 KW, more efficiently than comparable products on the market. The air conduction has been completely reworked and optimised in Cyber Air 3.

Such product development efforts are in line with STULZ's focus on enhancing customer value. This company is committed to providing tailored solutions that help customers achieve sustainable operations, reduce operating expenditure (OPEX) and, ultimately, the total cost of ownership (TCO).

"STULZ's precision air-conditioning systems have been shown to cut the electricity consumption of a data centre by up to 90% with DFC²," remarked Gnanajothi. "The company has developed complex software solutions to determine the TCO of different solutions it provides. It also has the proficiency to effectively educate customers about the TCO on a system-level, rather than a product level. Ultimately, it aims to provide the best value for its customer's investment."

Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in developing an innovative, high quality product with superior features and functionality that support customer value enhancement. The product also offers potential for market acceptance.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.
