Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy Opens California Campus

HILTON HEAD, S.C., April 4, 2008 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Asian junior golfers now have a new opportunity to improve their games and increase their exposure to U.S. colleges at Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy with its planned opening of a second campus on the U.S. West Coast this fall.

Founder and CEO Ray Travaglione said the academy's new campus at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande on California's central coast will open in August to facilitate more international growth and compliment the existing campus on Hilton Head Island, S.C., opened in 1995.

Academy students have exclusive access to Hank Haney, the acclaimed golf instructor who has coached Tiger Woods, the world's No. 1 player, since 2004. Haney and his certified instructors provide hands-on training for academy students.

"Our West Coast academy provides a tremendous opportunity for junior players throughout Asia, where golf continues to grow in popularity," said Haney, who joined the academy as director of instruction last June.

"I truly enjoy working with these kids," Haney said. "It inspires me to see students from all parts of the globe come together and succeed in improving their game through a common dedication to the sport."

Hank Haney IJGA is the only academy in the world, which provides training, academics and competition for junior golfers interested in achieving their full potential as student athletes. About 90 percent of students receive collegiate golf scholarships.

The school's diverse enrollment has grown to include students from 22 states and 23 countries. Early this year, the school changed its name to Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy to reflect the increased involvement of its renowned director of instruction.

Students at the California campus will live in luxury homes near Cypress Ridge with a House Parent providing 24-hour adult supervision. As with its Hilton Head campus, students will participate in a structured academic program that gives them flexibility to train at an exclusive practice facility, which includes indoor-video areas and indoor-hitting bays. Jeff Troesch, an expert in mental training for performance enhancement, will serve as director of Hank Haney IJGA in California.

Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are currently being accepted and more information is available at www.IJGA.com .
