Groundbreaking Web site reboots Online Film Festival Promises Big Global Turnout

    LOS ANGELES, Nov. 26, 2010 /PRNewswire-Asia/ --

PutItOn.com, the first online portal enabling artists from four artistic disciplines to display their talents and gain worldwide exposure, today announced the kick-off of its second annual film festival, The PutItOn Picture Show. The film festival is open for entries until January 12th, 2011 and allows artists worldwide to compete. The festival marries PutItOn.com's unique web-based platform with the spirit of creativity fostered in a film competition.

"We are so excited for round two of The PutItOn Picture Show and we can't wait to once again collaborate with our friends over at the New York Film Academy," said Max Fraser, British co-founder of PutItOn.com. "The Festival was a big hit last year, with artists across three continents participating and some terrific films being entered into competition." In a well-earned clean sweep of three different categories, Russia took home the gold last year but Fraser expects this year to showcase an even more eclectic selection of works from the far reaches of the globe. "Our best guess is that this year will be even more of an open affair. We would like to throw down the gauntlet to artists all over the world to match the quality and output that we saw from Russia last year. If our first film festival was a tremendous international success then this one will break even more boundaries. We're going bigger in every way and we just can't wait to see what the Community has to offer this time around."

    About The PutItOn Picture Show

The PutItOn Picture Show is co-sponsored by the New York Film Academy and is open to artists around the globe.

All entries are welcome, except for those that are exclusively pornographic in content or unethical, such as films based on acts of hate. Each entrant is allowed to submit one film into the contest. Last year's winners were decided by a jury headed by Academy Award nominated actor, producer and director Sean Astin - of the Lord of The Rings Fame. The jury also comprised a representative from PutItOn.com and Jean Sherlock, Director of the New York Film Academy. This year, in order to streamline the process, only one Grand Prize will be awarded to the best overall film and competition is expected to be more fierce than ever.

As with last year's contest, the first round of the competition will be decided by a global Internet vote, which will narrow the entries to a list of the top 10 finalists. At the second and final stage of the competition, the finalists will once again have their films judged by a panel of experts and one film will be chosen as the overall winner.

The competition opened November 19th, 2010 and closes for entries on January 12th, 2011. Internet voting will continue until January 26th. The winner will be selected and announced on February 2nd, 2011. A cash prize of $5,000 USD and a scholarship to the New York Film Academy once again await the winner.

In addition to the film festival, PutItOn currently has plans to launch a revolutionary U.S.-based online song competition that already has a few people in the industry talking. More details on that to follow.
