SMIC Receives Supplier Award from Qualcomm

SHANGHAI, December 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC"; NYSE: SMI; SEHK: 0981.HK), China's largest and most advanced semiconductor foundry, today announced its receipt of a 1 billion unit product milestone award from customer Qualcomm Incorporated in a ceremony held at SMIC's Shanghai headquarters.

Qualcomm, the world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, gave the award to SMIC in recognition of its excellent track record of support for Qualcomm's power management processor. During the multi-year collaboration, SMIC has achieved over 1 billion unit shipments of power management processors with an outstanding delivery record over the past year.
