Stora Enso's Joint Venture Veracel's Tree Plantations Gain FSC Certification

HELSINKI, Finland, March 18 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Stora Enso's joint venture Veracel in Brazil received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for its tree plantations on 13 March 2008. An FSC chain-of-custody certificate was simultaneously granted to the mill. Both certificates are valid for five years.

All pulp produced at Veracel pulp mill will now be FSC-certified, as of 14 March 2008. Stora Enso's share of the pulp is shipped to various Stora Enso mills around the world.

Veracel's plantations are now certified according to two forest management systems -- CERFLOR, which is endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC), and FSC.
