HONG KONG, April 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" which, together with its subsidiaries and its affiliates, is referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 02618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products in March and the first three months of 2015.
The Group's total sales volume of handsets and other products increased by 22% year-on-year to 5,662,000 units in March 2015. Sales volume of handsets and other products in the overseas markets increased by 15% year-on-year to 4,859,000 units, while shipments in the China market totalled 803,000 units. Sales volume of smartphones and other smart devices increased by 44% year-on-year to 3,272,000 units, and accounted for 58% of the Group's total shipments for the month. For the first three months of 2015, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products amounted to 15,830,000 units, representing an increase of 16% year-on-year.
On March 16 2015, TCL Communication showcased its new Internet application and service – "TCL Smart Home System" at the world's largest international consumer electronics, communications and information technology fair CeBIT 2015. Unlike other manufacturers, "TCL Smart Home System" has a natural advantage. Leveraging on the established multi-industry portfolio of businesses within the TCL Group, TCL Communication will use its mobile smart device as an entry point into establishing a Smart Home System. Using the preloaded "Smart Butler" as the management platform and control centre, the fully 3D home network layout will combine TCL televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, air purifiers, routers, lamps, and other smart appliances in its extensive range to achieve real-time monitoring and remote control.
At the exhibition, China Deputy Prime Minister MA Kai and German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar GABRIEL, jointly visited the TCL booth located in the central pavilion of the exhibition. Dr. Guo Aiping, Senior Vice President of TCL Group and Chief Executive Officer of TCL Communication, demonstrated the TCL Smart Home system, as well as introduced developments in the organization's core technologies and global operations to the VIP delegates.
TCL Communication is committed to creating an open-ended smart home ecosystem. All information processing and services are stored in a cloud service platform which is connected to smart home appliances.
