According to statistics released by the General Administration of Customs, the total import and export value in China reached RMB 17,000 billion in the first 8 months of this year, an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year. Export value accounted for RMB 9,100 billion of the total and saw a 2.1 percent increase. Bilateral trade value between China and Europe totaled RMB 2,480 billion, up 9.9 percent. During H1 2014, LED products exported to 27 countries in the EU amounted for more than USD 1 billion, an increase of 84.23 percent, and accounted for 25 percent of China's overall exports. Due to the market environment and relevant energy efficiency policies in the EU, the export structure for LED products is gradually shifting towards an increasing proportion of high value-added lighting products. Export products are often influenced by declining prices, standard restrictions and other limitations. However export enterprises can still increase product quality, reduce energy consumption, and minimize costs by leveraging technical support from third parties, so as to meet destination countries' import standards and access the global market.

In order to facilitate China's growing manufacturing industry, especially in Guangdong province; TUV SUD relocated and expanded its Shenzhen Testing Centre from 4,000 square meters to 10,000 square meters. The new location is able to achieve a more sophisticated and modern lab management model through its optimisation in areas such as equipment and testing environment which makes it more conducive for the establishment of a new advanced and modernised testing system. The Centre houses four state-of-the-art labs namely: Electrical and Electronic Testing (E&E), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Toy and Chemical. The Centre has various testing capabilities for electric and machinery products, footwear, textiles, toys and children products, and pharmaceutical instruments, which are traditionally areas of strength for Guangdong's manufacturing industry.

Originally established in year 2000, the Shenzhen Branch has been a strong source of technical support for TUV SUD's business in Guangdong. For years, the Centre has been dedicated to providing prompt and efficient testing services for local clients. It achieved ZLS qualification from the German lab and CNAS qualification from the China National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (CNAL). The Centre continually improves on its management metrics and attained the ISO17025 System Certification as part of its efforts to stay up-to-date with relevant international rules and regulations.

Dr. Axel Stepken, Chairman of the Board of Management of TUV SUD AG noted: "TUV SUD has 150 years of history in Germany and 14 years in Shenzhen, where we've witnessed how businesses have been growing. TUV SUD considers the Greater China region to be the most important strategic market outside Germany. In recent years, we have invested heavily in Shanghai, Xiamen, and Shenzhen, demonstrating our confidence in the belief that the China market will have promising prospects in the long run. TUV SUD is delighted to do our part in facilitating the transformation and upgrade of China's export business."

Throughout the past decade, TUV SUD has been highly regarded by local clients for their professional services. For example, TUV SUD helps Huawei Technologies' products and services to access global markets by providing them with a series of testing and certification services including safety, EMC, radio frequency, energy efficiency, environmental protection, multinational access, mechanics, noise and performance. Mr. Zhang Xinghai, Director of the Huawei Global Certification and Testing Centre, also attended the ceremony and witnessed the Shenzhen Testing Centre's upgrade. He said, "The TUV SUD Shenzhen branch has been offering testing and certification services for Huawei Technologies for years by leveraging their local expertise. Meanwhile, Huawei Global Certification and Testing Centre has been actively collaborating with TUV SUD in multiple areas such as technology research, quality management, standard development, and laboratory recognition. We are looking forward to wider, continued collaboration with TUV SUD in the future."
