2015-10-05 10:00 4106

HONG KONG, Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The entire ecosystem of the wearables industry will be the focus of interest at the 3rd Wearable Technologies Conference in Asia, organised jointly by Wearable Technologies Group (WT) and leading international testing company TUV SUD on 12 October 2015 in Hong Kong.  Through keynote presentations, the attendees will be informed of the latest trends and technological developments in medical wearables and consumer wearables. The highlight of the event will be the launch of the TUV SUD-WT Certification Mark and a presentation from TUV SUD on how to ensure safety and quality of wearables from the product development stage.

The global wearables market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 35% over the next five years, reaching 148 million units shipped annually in 2019, up from 33 million units shipped in 2014. To capitalise on this rapid growth, wearable device manufacturers need to address a wide range of factors that affect the quality, performance and safety of their products. To help manufacturers ensure user safety, TUV SUD and WT has jointly organised an event dedicated to the wearable industry in Hong Kong in October. "We are pleased to team up with WT again for the organisation of the 3rd Wearable Technologies Conference in Asia. We chose Hong Kong as it is a very important worldwide trading centre. There are many buyers and retailers focussing on the wearable technology." Dirk von Wahl, President and CEO of TUV SUD Greater China, comments, "The event will benefit global manufacturers and brand name owners, as well as SMEs who have interest in entering the consumer electronics market in different territories. The need for testing within different territorial markets is growing fast. With WT, we are jointly able to offer a globally recognised testing platform for our fast growing market."

TUV SUD provides testing solutions for wearable technologies such as battery lifecycle testing, radio frequency wireless equipment testing, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing, biocompatibility assessment, mobile application testing based on ISO 25051 and ISO 9241, and various national and international schemes. In June, TUV SUD has successfully organised a wearable conference in Shenzhen. This will be the second event for wearables this year with a focus on the global market.
