What's CEATEC INNOVATION AWARDS "as selected by US Journalists"?

As indicated in its subtitle, "As Selected by U.S. Journalists", this independent advisory panel of seven U.S. journalists associated with IT and home electronics will walk through the exhibition to review and present awards to significant technologies, products and services based on innovation and potential influence in the U.S. market. The results of the panel's award decisions will be immediately made available on the same day to media in the United States, Europe, Asia and Japan, while aspects such as technology, product, and service of the awardees will be reported on in greater detail through the respective publications of the journalists.

    How the awards are selected

All products, technologies, and services exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2010 are eligible and the panel of judges will walk through the exhibition to review and select award-winning categories, which will be announced later in the show. Awards will be first presented in eight different categories and then re-evaluated to select the Grand Prix winner for the most significant product of the show, with a special award given to a product related to Smart Grid Innovation/Green IT.

Evaluation and examination of the categories in booths where preparations have been completed will be conducted on October 4th, the day before the show is open to the public, and on October 6th. The winning categories will then be announced at the awards ceremony on October 7th from 11:00 a.m. at the CEATEC JAPAN venue (Press briefing room, 2nd floor of International Conference Hall).

Note: The journalists will select winners based on insights gained from journalistic experiences of the past to determine whether the reviewed item has potential impact, is influential, is functional, and/or can be considered revolutionary for the U.S. market. Other considerations include whether the item offers unique and original solutions to the latest needs and demands of the market.
