HONG KONG, Feb. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- In recognising the rapid expansion of the Asian real estate market, RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) has announced the appointment of Andy Wu as Senior Economist to be based in RICS Asia Office in Hong Kong effective 6th February 2012.  Andy will have dual reporting line to RICS Chief Economist Simon Rubinsohn in London, UK as well as Asia's Head of Communications Roy Ying.

The new Senior Economist will have specific responsibilities in developing contents, as well as gathering and interpreting market intelligence, to support brand development in Asia. Furthermore, a key element of the role will be to strengthen engagements with both policymakers and influencers and, in the process, raise the credibility of the RICS.  He will also be in charge of producing analysis on a number of RICS economic products as well as acting as one of the official spokespersons in providing economic commentary on real estate market and polices within Asia.

Andy joined RICS from DCW Capital Advisors, an investment fund specialising in Asian markets, where he was Economist, responsible for overseeing research on Asian macro-economic and financial sector issues. He also developed the economic scenarios that underpinned the firm's investments strategies. Prior to this, he was an analyst at Taiwan Ratings, a subsidiary of Standard & Poor's and was previously employed at Union Bank of California's Taipei Branch as Manager/Head, Economic & Credit Research.

RICS Chief Economist Simon Rubinsohn says, "I am really pleased to welcome Andy Wu to the team. His appointment is another important milestone for the RICS demonstrating the commitment of the Institution to its global agenda. I expect him to make a significant contribution to the credibility of the RICS in Asia increasing the quality and relevance of our economic products, strengthening the communication with policymakers and, more generally, raising the profile of the organisation."

Andy Wu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts in Economics degree from McGill University in Canada with a specialization in macroeconomics, international finance, and applied econometrics.

RICS Asia Head of Communications Roy Ying says, "I am delighted to have Andy coming onboard to join RICS.  Given his strong economic background, I am confident that he will strengthen the reputation of RICS as a credible source of high quality market intelligence in the real estate industry."
