TORONTO, October 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the upcoming 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and to create a moment of warmth among the members of the city's Chinese community, a public-benefit show -- "Toronto - The Chinese Heart" flash mob show organized by LeMine Investment Group was successfully held in Toronto on September 16.
The event was held in Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto, with more than 200 performers and audience members in attendance. By performing famous Chinese songs such as Ode to the Motherland and My Chinese Heart, the flash mob show attracted and received a great deal of applause from nearly 10,000 people across the different ethnic groups of the mainstream community. With crews from several mainstream and Chinese TV stations present to record the event and conduct interviews, the event came to a successful conclusion.
According to LeMine founder Liu Tong, the show was designed to spread joy and warmth to all attendees through an interplay between the performers and the audience with renditions of traditional songs. At the same time, the event served to build a mind bridge between overseas Chinese and their homeland by reaffirming the strong family bond between them on the occasion of China's National Day. The mayor of the city of Markham, Frank Scarpitti, and Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, Fang Li, also attended and sang at the event.
Consul General Fang said in the interview that the population in Toronto accounts for about half of Canada's total and constitutes the most active Chinese community in North America. Deeply touched by the show, he encouraged overseas Chinese to keep the bond with the country and make every effort to contribute to the friendship between China and Canada.
With the increasing influence of Chinese communities around the world and against the backdrop of China's "going global" strategy, overseas Chinese are spreading Chinese culture through a variety of forms, as a way of expressing the deepest passion they feel for their home country. The "Toronto - The Chinese Heart" flash mob show is a perfect illustration. This was the first time that Toronto's Chinese community celebrated the 65th anniversary of the People's Republic of China through a flash mob show, and it was also the first of its kind among Canada's Chinese communities.
