Goodman Foundation Partners with QCQ, Raising around RMB 750,000 to Renovate New Training Premises for Special Needs Children

SHANGHAI, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodman Group (Goodman or Group), the global integrated property group which owns, develops and manages industrial space, is pleased to announce a new partnership between the Goodman Foundation and the Shanghai Qingcongquan Training Center for Children with Special Needs (QCQ). On 7 December, both parties joined forces to co-host a fundraising event, successfully raising around RMB 750,000 for the renovation and refurbishment of new training premises for QCQ.

The event attracted the generous support of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the Shanghai Charity Foundation, Dulwich College Shanghai and 11 other corporate donors.

Goodman staff, customers, business partners and their families, came together to enjoy a full day of family activities and to be a part of this worthy cause for QCQ.

Li Qiang, a renowned anchor at Shanghai TV Station, said, "I am honored to be invited to this great event to help raise funds for the children and do my part to support this wonderful cause. I have gained a deeper understanding of QCQ and their families over the year and through continuous efforts like this, I hope that many more people will learn about and better understand autism, and assist those affected wherever possible."

Goodman Foundation is a CSR initiative launched by Goodman, with the aim to improve the quality of life, standard of living and health of disadvantaged people across the communities where Goodman operates.

Wayne Huang, General Manager, Operations for Goodman in China, said, "We are very happy to cooperate with QCQ to raise funds for the school renovation and refurbishment project. Every donation, no matter how large or small, will make a difference to the lives of children with special needs. In China, Goodman is focusing its efforts to provide ongoing support to QCQ."   

QCQ is a non-government and not-for-profit organization, offering professional rehabilitation training and tutorial services to autistic children and their families. With the support and assistance of the Changning District government, QCQ was granted a building in Maotai Road, Changning District of Shanghai, to expand its training activities.

Chen Jie, the Founder and Schoolmaster of QCQ, said, "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Goodman Foundation and all donors for their generous support of our work. In return, we will make sure that all funds raised are put to good use and ensure there is transparency on how we spend the money through regular updates to donors on the key achievements of QCQ."

The renovation and refurbishment of the premises is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2015, at which time the Training Centre will be able to provide care for 120 children, an increase from the 50 children it currently cares for.
