Representing a total investment of HK$630 million (euro 63 million), and offering nearly 900,000 square feet of warehouse space, DHL Supply Chain MegaHub Hong Kong is a significant milestone in the company's expansion of its regional infrastructure. To date, this DHL division has invested a total of euro 224 million in facilities in their North Asian sub-region over the past three years, and projects to spend another euro 300 million from now to 2015. Recent investments in the region include new warehouse facilities in China targeting the consumer sector, a multi customer site in South Korea and an expansion of their retail footprint in Japan.

Frank Appel, CEO, Deutsche Post DHL, said, "Asia continues to be one of the most active and dynamic regions in the world economy, with its rapid growth demanding an ever-developing network to keep pace with its needs. Both international and local customers require effective and efficient solutions to establish their supply chains in the region, and we are proud to open DHL Supply Chain MegaHub Hong Kong to better serve the market."

Strategically placed in the heart of Tsing Yi, the DHL Supply Chain MegaHub offers direct access to Hong Kong's transport network including proximity to Hong Kong international airport, the city's central business district, container terminals and even mainland China. Building on a longstanding relationship with Interlink developer Goodman, DHL selected the site as an embodiment of its GoGreen (Note 1) commitment to sustainability. Built to internationally-recognized standards of environmentally-friendly accreditation, the facility is designed to minimize waste and use of resources to provide a low-impact solution without compromising on service quality.

"Our global supply chain business is developing strongly, also driven by continued growth in the Asia Pacific region. The development of our people, an accelerated collaboration between countries and divisions and our ongoing infrastructure investments will further spur this growth agenda," said Bruce Edwards, Global CEO of DHL Supply Chain. "With this new MegaHub we will expand our organizational capabilities providing an even better service to our customers in Hong Kong and beyond by meeting their needs for comprehensive solutions from a single source."

Paul Graham, CEO Asia Pacific, DHL Supply Chain, said, "Over the past few years we have continually invested in our network to provide innovative logistics solutions to Hong Kong's business community to support the production and distribution of their products. We recognized the importance of environmental protection and sustainability to DHL group, and DHL Supply Chain MegaHub Hong Kong strengthens our ability to provide a green and socially-responsible offer, helping support our customers' future business growth."

"The opening of the DHL Supply Chain MegaHub Hong Kong is testament of our commitment to and confidence in the city as one of the world's primary logistics and distribution centers," said Tom Wong, Managing Director Hong Kong and Macau, DHL Supply Chain. "Establishing our new headquarters within this expansive and cutting-edge property will enable us to provide timely service, monitoring and support to our customers. The scale of operations ensures cost efficiencies and operational benefits for clients who require flexibility as their businesses in the region continue to adapt and develop."

The site caters for varied client needs, offering both ramp access floors, for large inbound and outbound volumes, and cargo lift floors, with additional features such as temperature control and secure cages. The building's two-tier security system ensures first-class protection for customer goods and is coupled with extensive safety features to minimize fire risk.

Note:
1. GoGreen is DHL's environmental protection program. The program's primary focus is to minimize DHL's business operations' greatest impact on the environment -- CO2 emissions.
