SAN FRANCISCO, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TouchPal (www.touchpal.com), an innovative and award-winning keyboard developer, today announced that it made the first 3rd-party keyboard running on iOS 8. It also released a video demonstrating the beta version running on iOS with gesture input.

TouchPal is a popular touchscreen keyboard app on Android, with over 150 million users worldwide. It is also one of the most downloaded keyboards on Google Play. It is the winner of 2009 GSMA Global Innovation Award and Top 6 Finalist of TechCrunch Disrupt. As the inventor of mistyping correction, mixed language input, adaptive learning and sentence-based gesture input, TouchPal has over 50 patents issued or pending.

iOS 8 is the first iOS system that supports third-party keyboard. Many keyboard developers claimed to be working on iOS 8, but TouchPal took the leading place in the game by successfully running its keyboard app on iOS 8 before anyone else. In the demo video, it runs smoothly with sliding input, which is missing from iOS for a long time. Users can slide over the letters on the keyboard to form a word, slide up for a number, and slide down for a symbol.

"We are excited to share this good news to our users and partners," said Michael Wong, CEO of TouchPal. "It shows that TouchPal is a leading innovator in the text input area. We will continue to provide the best experience to our end users."

TouchPal is calling for beta testers for its iOS 8 version. The beta program will be invitation-only and will be open to a limited number of users, selected from its twitter followers (@touchpal).
