HONG KONG, June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Award presentation ceremony of Green Building Award 2012 (GBA 2012) will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 11 June 2012 (Monday), during which winners will be announced and awarded.
GBA 2012 is a biennial award program organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) with the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC). GBA 2012 aims to provide recognition to building related projects with outstanding performance and contributions in sustainability and environment, and also to transform the mainstream market towards wider adoption of sustainable planning, design, construction, maintenance, renovation and revitalization of buildings. With the success of GBA 2006, 2008 and 2010, this year's award categories have been streamlined to cover areas including New Buildings, Existing Buildings, Research and Planning, and Building Products with a view to promote more holistic participation and wider support both locally and throughout the Asia Pacific region. It should be noted that the category of Building Products is a brand new addition to the GBA series this year.
GBA 2012 has received a total of 84 nominations from 7 major cities in Asia Pacific region, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, and other Asia Pacific countries involving Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan and Singapore. This represents a 52.7% increase in the overall nomination rate from 2010. Nominations received for GBA 2012 covered a wide range of projects and all conveyed strong sustainability initiatives.
