Birkart Globistics Realigns its Far East Sales Structure for Greater Regional Focus

New Sales Structure will Offer Improved Local Presence and Better Customer Service

HONG KONG, Mar. 3 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Birkart Globistics, the Air + Ocean division of Thiel Logistik AG, today announced that it has realigned its sales division in the Asia Pacific region to help meet customer demand for richer relationships at a local level, greater access to industry-specific expertise, and deeper logistics advice.

The announcement is the first in a number of significant investments that Birkart Globistics has planned for 2008 to help advance the quality and consistency of experience it is able to provide its freight forwarding customers across the region.

To support the initiative, Far East Regional Managing Director Mr. James Kilpatrick noted that the company has established a new sales force structure and leadership team that brings unparalleled industry knowledge and local focus.

Reporting directly to Mr. Kilpatrick, the new team includes the appointments of several key senior executives whose positions, as follows, take immediate effect:

-- Located in Shanghai, Mr. Henk Westerhoek joins Birkart Globistics as

Deputy Managing Director China with responsibility for developing the

company’s business across Central, Northern and Southern China. He

is responsible for managing and directing the sales and marketing

divisions in China, in collaboration with the regional head office

and sales divisions in the Far East branches. Mr. Westerhoek has

worked in various leadership positions in the freight forwarding and

logistics industry for 20 years of which he has spent almost 13 years

in China. A multi-linguist, he is fluent in English, French, Dutch,

Cantonese and Mandarin.

-- Mr. Fabrizio Stanig will be the new Deputy Managing Director for

Birkart Globistics in Central and Northern China with responsibility

for spearheading the company’s expansion across the region and

overseeing day-to-day operations. In his previous role, Mr. Stanig

was the General Manager for the Central and Northern China division.

Over the last four years, Mr. Stanig has held a variety of positions

with the company, including managing several sub branches in China

that have undergone expansion.

-- Mr. Axel Herzhauser is promoted to the position of Regional Sales and

Marketing Director for Birkart Globistics in the Far East. Mr.

Herzhauser has proven track record for structuring and rolling out a

successful sales and marketing platform throughout the Far East

region in 2006 and 2007. In the new position, he is responsible for

all aspects of Birkart Far East Regional sales and marketing

development, in particular identifying new business development

opportunities, growing key accounts, plus leading route development

and implementing marketing campaigns across the Far East.

On the new regional sales team, Mr. Kilpatrick said, "Henk, Fabrizio and Axel know what it takes to create a profitable freight forwarding and logistics business. Together, they bring over 60 years of collective experience and success to their respective positions and will each play a key role as we work to further developing the business and introduce more diversified logistics services to our clients in Asia.
