Vodone's Linxun Service Hits One Million Users

2010-08-27 18:08 3219

BEIJING, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Over one million users have registered in Linxun as of August 25, 2010, since it was launched this May, turning it into the largest mobile phone location based service in China. A more advanced 2.4.2 version of Linxun was also put into use officially on the same day, declared its operator Vodone Group in Beijing.

Linxun, a location based service (LBS) developed from e-map by Vodone and the Beijing R&D center of France Telecom in May, 2010, is the first 3G mobile phone online network in China, integrated with internet, commercial information and entertainment. Seeing a sharp rise of its users, Linxun shot to fame overnight once it was launched online, representing the emergence of the first Chinese online mobile phone map community.

According to Yang Baoyi, Linxun CEO of Vodone, Linxun is only a beginning, though it has already become the largest online community of location based service (LBS) and social networking services (SNS) in China. "Vodone will invest more resources in Linxun. Our research and development departments will optimize our services to meet the needs of growing users. The latest 2.4.2 version is just a case in point with stronger user-friendly functions, instructing know-how of three new services transmitting doors, Linxun agencies and subject groups," says Yang. "We will also start a publicity campaign promoting a low-carbon lifestyle according to relevant services available on linxun.com."

The monthly average consumption of GPRS flow from logging on Linxun with a mobile phone is about 120M, economic enough given China Mobile's basic 150M monthly GPRS flow and 88 yuan service package. Let alone the universality of WIFI, making Linxun an almost GPRS-free gift.

SNS has become the most popular service for Chinese netizens, increasingly so for mobile phone users. The population of mobile phone netizens in China hit 277 million in June 2010. Traditional SNS websites can only provide users with a two-dimensional world marked with time and movement, but LBS gives SNS a new possibility, adding the third dimension of geographic location. Individual users can flock together in light with their locations. A new form of interactive network thus becomes real.

Taking advantage of the plural interactive model of LBS and SNS, Linxun can easily keep its users informed of their locations and ambient restaurants, gas stations, etc. Moreover, businessmen can also transmit their coupons to Linxun users through mobile phones. The popularization of Linxun indicates the evolution of modern lifestyles. In contrast with its counterparts abroad, Linxun is more user-oriented and organizes human and information efficiently to make life easier.

Zhang Lijun, Chairman of Board of Directors of Vodone Group, is confident of the rising of a mobile internet market with the development of 3G and the IT industry. And Linxun just gives his enterprise an opening to the treasure-stove. Linxun supports the four main operation systems of a mobile phone -- Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android -- which are widely used in mobile phones like those from Apple, Nokia, HTC, Motorola, and Sony/Ericsson, etc. With uninterrupted upgrading and development of Linxun, more users will benefit from the convenience and joy that it brings.
