Realtek offers total HomeKit solutions with Ameba (RTL8711 series) and iCOM (RTL8196/8188 series) that can be easily implemented into various IoT platform designs, e.g. smart plug, smart home appliances, home security systems, and smart sensor/lighting devices.
HomeKit offers a set of common protocols making it easier for customers to control HomeKit-enabled accessories using Siri or third-party apps. HomeKit is built on a secure foundation with end-to-end encryption which provides customers a secure connection between their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and HomeKit-enabled accessory.
The Ameba solution is a low power design and is perfect for battery-powered appliances. Ameba features a high-performance CPU (ARM Cortex-M3) and embedded memory. It provides complete networking and Wi-Fi protocols, hardware SSL engine, and various serial ports including UART, I2C, SPI, and PWM. Ameba also integrates with ADC, DAC, high-speed SDIO, and USB to directly control analog-type sensors or devices. For connectivity, Ameba provides software support for Apple Wireless Accessory Configuration (WAC).
iCOM is a Linux-based miniature module field-proven solution featuring embedded DRAM. It supports full implementation of the HomeKit framework, and offers multiple interfaces for easy development of innovative IoT applications.
