JIXI, Heilongjiang, June 17 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The first Sino-Czech Seminar on Technology and Work Safety in the Mining Industry was held on 7th June 2010 in Jixi, Heilongjiang province involving six Czech companies, manufactures of cutting edge, high safety mining equipment.
The seminar was organized and coordinated by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Peoples Republic of China jointly with the Department of Commerce of Heilongjiang Province in cooperation with the Municipal People's Government of Qitaihe, Heilongjiang Province. The main theme of the seminar was the safety in mines in the light of recent technical development.
The speakers recruiting form the well established Czech companies presented the ways to diminish the risks of working in the mine through the latest technology means.
Petr Vavra, the Commercial Counsellor of the Czech Embassy, said: "The statistics clearly shows that the safety of Czech mines has improved dramatically in last two decades. During the period of 1970-2009 the number of deaths caused by accidents in Czech mines decreased 20 times (from 138 deaths in 1970 to 7 cases in 2009). With still relatively high number of casualties in Chinese mines, I assume that our mining equipment producing companies have what to share with their Chinese counterparts, especially in terms of design of the coal mining equipment and its safety features. In this respect, the safety of worker -- regardless of whether it is a Chinese or a Czech one -- is to our common concern. "
