2010-05-19 12:14 4573

SHANGHAI, May 19 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Sunday 23 May will be the last chance to see Swedish Fashion - Exploring a New Identity at River South Art Centre. Sunday 23 May is also the date for the Swedish Fashion Performance at the Swedish National Pavilion Day at the World Expo.

The exhibition produced by the Swedish Institute showcases 13 of the most prominent fashion designers from Sweden. Clothes from five of these designers will be integrated in the Shanghai-based choreographer Jin Xing's fashion performance at the Expo Center Red Hall, Sunday 23.

-- All the designers chosen for the performance represent the creative and

innovative spirit of Swedish fashion. The Swedish fashion industry is

in a state of redefining itself, of coming across as more innovative

and with a new identity, which is why I've created a performance that

deals with this new image, says choreographer Jin Xing.

The Fashion Performance will feature clothes designed by Diana Orving, Sandra Backlund, Martin Bergstrom, Goran Sundberg and Nakkna with the renowned Swedish dancer Virpi Pahkinen in a solo part. Original music for the performance is composed by the two popular Swedish artists Kleerup and Unge.

-- The Swedish Fashion exhibition has been very well received in Shanghai

since it opened on 9 April, and Ann-Sofie Back was one of the most

acclaimed designers at Shanghai Fashion Week. I am proud to present the

third and last part in this project which is a highly innovative

fashion performance by Jin Xing, who brings young Swedish design

together with today's modern China, says Anders Ohrn, project manager

at the Swedish Institute who has commissioned the performance.

The Fashion Performance is followed by concerts by Sofia Jannok, world music artist with roots in the northern Sami culture, and young pop sensation Those Dancing Days.
