The 12th Western China International Fair Opens in Chengdu

CHENGDU, China, Oct. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF) opened on the morning of October 20 in Chengdu.

Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, vice-president of Maldives, Mr. Alik Likiaksa Alick, vice- president of the Federated States of Micronesia, Mr. Seif Ali lddi, vice-president of Tanzania's Zanzibar and Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, former primer minister of Japan, were present at the opening ceremony. Leaders and distinguished guests visited the exhibition halls of the 12th WCIF after conclusion of the opening ceremony.

At the 12th WCIF, which is themed on "Leading International Cooperation, Expanding Market Space", 13 important events such as the 4th Western China International Cooperation Forum, the 6th China-EU Investment & Trade Cooperation Fair and China-France Industrial Cooperation Seminar, 15 special programs and 72 investment promotion programs will be organized in the five days.

This time the exhibition area reaches 18,000 square meters. In the main exhibition venue Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition Center, six exhibition halls are set up, namely the Western Cooperation Hall, International Cooperation Hall, High and New Technology Hall, International Electronic Information Hall, International Equipment Manufacturing Hall and Agriculture Industry Hall and the outdoors exhibition zone. A total of 4,564 exhibitors from 52 countries and regions, 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and Xinjiang Production & Construction Corps attended the international event.

The 12th WCIF has attracted nearly 70,000 visitors, including senior leaders of 105 countries and regions, presidents of important international associations and organizations and Fortune 500 corporations, and senior executives of famous enterprises and other guests, and 800 billion yuan worth of projects is predicted to be nailed down, according to the Organizing Committee of the WCIF.
