Asia Plantation Capital is delighted not only to attend the IFEAT (The International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades) Conference 2015, but also to assume a role as one of the sponsors of the event that was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 27th of September to the 1st of October. Dubbed the 'Spice Island', Sri Lanka is home to a number of Asia Plantation Capital's own plantations, and the company named 'Best Forestry Investment Company' in The European's Emerging Markets Awards 2015, intends to use the conference to showcase its ongoing commitment to responsible and sustainable development.

The theme for the IFEAT Conference 2015 was 'Asia - Source Of Essential Oils And Medicinal Plants', and it covered several topics and issues regarding the complex and exciting flavour and fragrance industry, with the overall aim of protecting the environment and encouraging sustainability and good practices in the sector.

"This year at IFEAT 2015, we are hoping to convey a message to the industry regarding the importance of a certified and sustainable supply chain," said Barry Rawlinson, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Plantation Capital. "The now familiar 'Soil to Oil to You' story is at the heart of everything we do at Asia Plantation Capital, and reflects our values and our commitment to sustainability. And it doesn't apply only to the production of our famous Oud. We apply it across all of our plantations around the world to include patchouli, vetiver, and rose oils, along with many other sustainable oils and resins for the international market."

To meet the increasing demands for sustainably and naturally produced products, Asia Plantation Capital launched one of its newest divisions earlier this year - Asia Plantation Capital Essentials - to supply sustainably grown essential oils to both small and large companies. Additionally, Asia Plantation Capital's partner brand - French, niche, luxury perfume house, Fragrance Du Bois - recently created L'Essence Du Bois, which takes the form of an educational and experiential journey through the 52 essences of nature found in all fine fragrances.

"We are seeing a growing trend in which more and more consumers are becoming conscious about the provenance of the products they purchase," said Nicola Parker, Brand Director of Fragrance Du Bois. "People these days want to know what they're buying, and where it comes from, especially in the case of Oud, which comes from an endangered tree that is still, sadly, being logged illegally. It is absolutely vital to create awareness of the need for a sustainable supply chain, and get the message across to our partners in the industry."

All Oud oil produced by Asia Plantation Capital is CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora) and IFRA (the International Fragrance Association) certified, and will be showcased in a perfumery workshop facilitated by fragrance expert, Joanna Norman, on the third day of the conference.

Founded in the UK, the conference will see a record breaking number of more than a thousand industry professionals over the course of four days, and has previously been held in cities such as Rome, San Francisco, Singapore, and Barcelona.
