Media Q&A with Judy Yoo from AVING Korea
PR Newswire recently sat down with Judy Yoo, a global manager of AVING News, Asia Branch, to learn more about the type of stories the publication is interested in and tips that communicators should take into consideration when pitching the media outlet.
1) Could you briefly introduce AVING Korea?
AVING NEWS covers inside stories of over 70 global exhibitions each year, including well-known products, forums, manufacturing facilities and laboratories. We also track and review all the latest and cutting-edge products. Our news stories are published in 3 different languages: Korean, English and Chinese. In addition, we are proud to serve notable exhibitions such as MWC and IFA, as their global media partner.
2) Are there specific stories you usually look out for?
We always aim to break news stories from start-ups, either at their launch events, crowd-funding campaigns, exhibitions, investments or MoU signings with big corporations. We then deliver our news to our readers who are mostly professional buyers, investors and professionals constantly seeking new and unique start-ups to invest in.
3) In general, what do you think of the current South Korean Media industry?
The media industry in South Korea is changing rapidly with the growing emergence of new media. Just 10 years ago, online media was a totally brand-new concept – almost all traditional newspapers did not believe in online media. But it’s suddenly taking shape – online media is now facing a stiff challenge with digital prosumers such as bloggers and influencers jumping on the bandwagon. This is why both online media and newspaper have to figure out a new way to survive, for instance running blogs, YouTube channels, creating new types of contents, etc.
4) What should PR professionals take note of when pitching AVING Korea?
AVING is an acronym of All Visual Internet News of Goods. Our mission is in delivering the freshest product news to our readers. The news must contain unique and competitive products and companies. The company must also have a specific goal of their companies and marketing promotion.
